Stacy Peterson ~ Bolingbrook, Illinois ~ Missing Oct. 28, 2007
Stacy Peterson was 23 years old at the time of her disappearance. She is the mother of two small children, Lacy (3) and Anthony (4). Stacy is the fourth wife of Drew Peterson, who is person of interest, in her disappearance. She is described by friends as a “warm caretaker”, “bubbly”, “darling”, and “very, very sweet”. She doesn’t sound like someone that would just walk away from her life on her own. She loved her kids and said to take them everywhere.
Saturday, October 27, 2007: Cassandra Cales, Stacy’s sister, visited with her. They hugged before Cassandra left and Stacy said “if anything happens to me, he killed
me. It wasn’t an accident.”
Sunday, October 28, 2007: Drew said he arrived home at 3:00am from working the night shift. A friend of Stacy’s said they talked to her at 10:00 am and she was to help a friend paint that day but never showed up. Drew claims he last saw Stacy at 11:00am. Drew said he was under the impression Stacy was going to spend time with her grandfather. Stacy’s sister is said to have tried to call Stacy all day but no success. It is stated that Drew called in sick from work too. Later that night, the Chicago Tribune states Drew received a phone call from Stacy saying she was leaving him. The last time Stacy’s cell phone had any activity was 9:00pm today.
Monday, October 29, 2007: Cassandra Cales files a missing person’s report with the Bolingbrook Police Department and the Illinois State Police Department.
November 9, 2007: Illinois State Police Department calls Stacy Peterson’s disappearance “a potential homicide”
Friends of Stacy’s recollect previous conversations who put Drew Peterson under suspicion. Steve Cesare said he received an email from Stacy stating “I am finding that the relationship I am in is controlling, manipulative and some what abusive.” This was October 17, 2007, on the eve of her 4-year anniversary. Another friend, Scott Rossetto, said he met Stacy at a restaurant on October 19, 2007 and Drew Peterson showed up in his police uniform. Drew allegedly asked Scott “how he’d feel if his wife went off with another guy.” Drew is said to have stayed at the table for 15 to 20 minutes and just kept staring at Stacy.
Drew has been charged in the death of his 3rd wife, Kathleen Savio. Shortly after the indictment, a body was found in the Des Plaines River, 20 miles from Bolingbrook, Illinois. Nearby was a blue barrel. As of this writing, it is unknown if the remains are that of Stacy Peterson or another missing person Lisa Stebic. Stacy and Lisa are of the same height and both disappeared in 2007. Drew is a whole different story to be covered at a later date.
December 11, 2007: Pastor Neil Schori sat down with Greta Van Susteren, host of “On the Record”. Pastor Schori characterizes himself as a counselor and met with Stacy Peterson. Stacy is said to have called him and asked to meet with him. He states that Stacy was not a regular churchgoer and sometimes didn’t see her for several months. On one ocassion, he met with Stacy over coffee. He said they talked about several things but this time, she blurted out “he did it”, just like that. Schori told Greta that she gave details that he couldn’t discuss. He did state she had specific information that put him outside the home on the night of his 3rd wife’s death.
Since Stacy is not here to confirm the conversation, it is considered heresay. However, it does put more suspicion on Drew Peterson.
Drew Peterson’s step-brother, Thomas Morphey, told a Chicago-area newspaper that he thinks he may have helped Drew dispose of Stacy’s body. Morphey states Drew questioned his love for him and would he kill for him. Allegedly, when Morphey told Drew no, Drew allegedly asked , “Could you live with knowing about it?” Morphey states he helped Drew move a blue barrel and feared it was Stacy inside. Until now, I don’t think too much was weight was put on his claims.
I read an article that Drew Peterson was looking more gray and subdued at his last court hearing. Ironically, it was the same day the remains were found. Is it just a coincidence?
What is so hard about just getting divorced? Is greed so powerful that a person would choose to commit a crime than lose money? There are now 4 children without their mother and possibly without their father if Drew Peterson is found guilty. Controlling a person is a key to many cases in recent years. Controlling every move of their loved one as a possession. Their mentality is like “I can’t have you, no one will”.
I believe Stacy loved her children very much. If it is true that she suspected Drew, I don’t think she would have left her children. There have been no sightings of Stacy. Her cell phone has not been used nor have her credit cards.
In my opinion, they will find the remains in the Des PlainesRiver to be those of Stacy Peterson. It is coincidental that they found a blue barrel but given the story by Thomas Morphey, very believable at this time.
